Meghan Markle wants an ‘American nanny to look after royal baby’ – and Mannys can apply too

The Duchess, 37, has told a posh Kensington-based recruitment firm that she wants an American nanny to live with her at Frogmore Cottage

MEGHAN Markle plans to hire an American nanny to care for her baby and has not ruled out drafting a male MANNY into the Royal household, it has been reported.

The 37-year-old actress, who is eight-months pregnant, has instructed a posh Kensington-based recruitment firm to find her a suitable candidate for the job.

A source said that Meghan and husband Prince Harry have not ruled out the possibility of hiring a male child carer to look after their first born.

The successful nanny would be based at the Royal couple’s new Frogmore Cottage home in Berkshire and could earn up to £70,000-a-year depending on experience, it has been reported.

They would also be interviewed by Harry and "strong-willed" Meghan.

Speaking to The Mirror, the source said: “Meghan was clear in telling recruiters she favours an American over a Brit and wants them to feel part of the family rather than a uniformed member of staff.

MANNY MCPHEE?

“That is important to her, she’s never hidden the fact she is fiercely proud of her American roots.

“They are keen to explore the possibility of a male nanny.”

The West London recruitment firm, which has not been named in the report, specialises in bilingual childminders as well as nannies trained at Norland College in Bath.

Norland nannies have been favoured by the Royals in the past including by Prince William and wife Kate who hired Spanish-born Maria Teresa Borrallo to look after their three tots.

Meghan Markle family feud - Will Baby Sussex ever meet Grandpa Thomas?

This comes as Meghan's half-sister Samantha has said she thinks the Duchess will “butt heads” with the new baby's nannies.

Samantha, who was not invited to the Royal Wedding, has speculated that her “strong-willed” sibling will have clear opinions about how to raise her child.

In the upcoming documentary Meghan and Harry: A Royal Baby Story, the Florida-resident, 54, said: “I think Meg will definitely get a nanny.

“I’m pretty sure that her threshold for stress could be quite low in the beginning. How many rooms in Frogmore? I can see them all being filled up with nannies.

“Meghan is very strong-minded and there will probably definitely be a butting of heads. But Meghan could learn and grow from that.

“So if the nanny is strong enough, then she won’t leave in tears.”

HUNT FOR ROYAL NANNY

Samantha also said she thinks Meghan should take parenting advice from her sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

She said on the show, which airs tonight: “I would hope that Meghan would take some pointers from Kate who is quite experienced now.

“She can probably guide her in ways, how to help shelter the kids, while at the same time educating them and giving them a realistic sense on who they are in this busy world.”

Royal correspondent Emily Andrews also feels Meghan will get childcare help after she gives birth.

Emily said on the show: “I think Meghan and Harry will want help with Baby Sussex, because obviously Harry’s mum isn’t here very sadly and Doria lives in Los Angeles.

“I’m sure she’ll be coming over lots to help but she’s not exactly on the doorstep.

“I think like any mum, you get this baby and think ‘wow am I going to do with it now?’

“I think she will be a hands on parents but I think she will be more than happy to have all of these resources that available for new mums.

“Because after all, she is very lucky because her and Harry can pay for it.”
