DGR to Santhosh: What’s RSS contribution to freedom fight?

Mr Santhosh, while delivering a lecture on abrogation of Article 370, organised by \'Jana Mana\' here on Friday.

BENGALURU: Lambasting BJP national organising secretary, B. L. Santhosh, for his controversial remarks on the nation's first Prime Minister, late Jawaharlal Nehru, KPCC president, Dinseh Gundu Rao, on Saturday dared him to speak about contributions of RSS rather than on the history of Congress party.

Mr Rao told the media: “They (RSS leaders) never participated in the freedom movement. It was led by the Congress. But for Mr Nehru and our second PM Lal Bahadur Shastri, Jammu and Kahshmir would not be the part of this country. It was these two PMs who worked hard to get this crown.”

According to him though RSS and BJP leaders are proud about abrogation of Article 370, the fact of the matter remains that they could hold their head high as long as the Union government continues with ban orders. "Once the ban orders are lifted, everyone will realise what Nehru's contributions to this country were," he added.

Mr Santhosh, while delivering a lecture on abrogation of Article 370, organised by 'Jana Mana' here on Friday, had launched a scathing attack on Mr Nehru. He had stated "The country has seen 17 Lok Sabha elections and 22 governments. The blunder committed by the first Prime Minister has been corrected by the 15th Prime Minister. No government had thought of making such a bold move. The so-called secular politics have to be blamed for this. The move should not be seen as a victory, but correction of a blunder committed in the past.” Mr Santhosh also remarked that while India secured independence, Mr Nehru was busy building his image in foreign countries.

“He never thought of protecting our borders." He said the BJP took birth to abrogate Article 370 and build the Ram Mandir. “The first founder president laid down his life for the cause, and 42,000 people have been killed in Jammu & Kashmir. With PM Narendra Modi and Union home Minister Amit Shah's decision, the dream of crores of Indians has come true,” Mr Santhosh had contended.
