Front Range Biosciences, a Lafayette-based biotechnology firm that specializes in cannabis plant breeding, has partnered with Faith and Family Farms to grow cannabis plants at the farm’s 14,000-square-feet nursery greenhouse facility in Salinas Valley, Calif.
Front Range will be able to produce as many as of 50,000 cannabis rooted cuttings and pre-flower plants per month, according to a company news release.
The company will have the opportunity to add an additional 10,000 square feet of space in Monterey County, Calif., later this year, the release said.
“Monterey County is known for its outstanding growing climate and has a long-standing tradition of successful large-scale production of many different crops,” Front Range CEO Jon Vaught said in a statement. “We look forward to becoming a member of the community and contributing to its economic growth.”
Vaught added, “This strategic partnership is a key stepping stone to our entrance into California’s cannabis industry and will provide access to the states’ central coast cannabis production market.”
