Man Utd transfer news and rumours: Could Paul Pogba AND James Rodriguez be heading to Old Trafford?

James Rodriguez and Paul Pogba
James Rodriguez and Paul Pogba have both been linked with Man Utd

Another Pogba update...

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta insists Manchester United have NOT been in contact about signing Pogba.

“There has been no contact with Manchester United and we have not received any offer for Pogba,” he told Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Errrrr... what?

'Rojo to Villarreal'

More ins and outs are expected at Old Trafford before the season starts for real in August and, according to Marca, Marcos Rojo is one player who could be on his way soon.

Marca report that Rojo – who the publication claim cost €20 million when Louis van Gaal signed him from Sporting Lisbon in 2014 – is a transfer target for Villarreal.

Allegri on Pogba...

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has remained coy about Paul Pogba’s future in Turin.

When asked about Pogba’s future at Juventus, the Italian coach told Sky Italia: “I won’t speak about the market.

“It doesn’t make sense talking about it.”

Could James Rodriguez also be heading to Manchester?

James Rodriguez is reportedly coming to terms with the idea that his time at Real Madrid may be coming to an end and Spanish newspaper Marca is suggesting that a Manchester United move is particularly appealing to the Colombian.

According to Marca, United are one of three interested clubs who could afford him, with Paris Saint-Germain and, surprisingly, West Ham the other two.

The one stumbling block may be his €80 million price tag.

Juve make last-ditch bid to keep Pogba

Juventus are preparing to offer Pogba a lucrative new deal as they look to convince him to snub a move to Manchester United, according to Goal.

Jose Mourinho's men are ready to smash the world transfer record with a bid in the region of £105 million.

However, latest reports suggest Juve are willing to offer Pogba a two-year extension that would keep him in Turin until 2021 and boost his pay to €7 million a year.

Juve braced for departures

This news will do nothing to dampen speculation that Pogba is on his way to Old Trafford, possibly RIGHT NOW.

Juventus director Fabio Paratici has been speaking in Italy, and has confirmed that there is interest in not only their prized midfielder but also Leonardo Bonucci, who is reported to be the subject of scrutiny from Chelsea.

"At Juve, we have Bonucci and Pogba interest from many clubs and are prepared for possible replacements," he said.

So there.

Morning round-up

The big rumour doing the rounds at Manchester United today - and all summer, in fact - is the club's pursuit of Paul Pogba, which appears to be gathering momentum.

The Sun reports this morning that United are on the brink of agreeing a world record £105million deal for the France international.

They say that negotiations with the player's agent, Mino Raiola, could even be concluded by the end of the weekend, which seems ambitious to say the least as these mega-deals are not in the habit of being done in a rush.

They also say that Pogba will sign a deal worth an eye-watering £202,000-a-week (£200,000-a-week just will not do, frankly) when he returns from a holiday in America.

Any deal on that scale would comfortably eclipse the current world record transfer for a footballer - the £86million Real Madrid paid Tottenham for Gareth Bale.

United are playing their first pre-season friendly of the summer today at Wigan Athetic, where new manager Jose Mourinho is expected to give an outing to a collection of youngsters and players who watched the Euros from the comfort of their holiday infinity pools or living room sofas.
