'Lit Bottles' Thrown At Seattle Church Full Of Worshipers

A witness saw someone try to light the church on fire Thursday night during a service.

SEATTLE, WA - An arsonist attacked a South Seattle church Thursday night, throwing Molotov cocktails at the Iglesia ni Cristo church. There were worshipers inside when the attack occurred, but no one was injured.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. Thursday along 42nd Avenue South, about one block east of the Othello light rail station.

Seattle police arson investigators are investigating the incident. A witness told police that a lone person walked up to the building and threw "lit bottles of an unknown liquid" at the church. The fire damaged the exterior of the building, but the fire was out before firefighters arrived at the scene.

The incident happened in one of the most ethnically diverse parts of Seattle. Iglesia ni Cristo, a nondenominational church of Christ, is part of a worldwide network with at least six other locations around Puget Sound.
