The start of the college football season is still a couple weeks away, which makes it an ideal time for projections.

Jerry Palm with CBS Sports took a shot at predicting the teams that will reach the College Football Playoff as well as the matchup in every bowl game. And, he's not extremely high on the Big Ten this season.

Palm has Oklahoma, Clemson, Alabama and Notre Dame as the four teams in the playoff. He predicted Michigan State will face Tennessee in the Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31 and Michigan to take on Ole Miss in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 2. Palm's top Big Ten teams are Ohio State as the conference champion in the Rose Bowl against Stanford on Jan. 2 and Iowa vs. Houston in the Cotton Bowl on Jan 2.

Michigan State is coming off its second Big Ten championship in three years and first trip to the College Football Playoff. The Spartans, who lost 38-0 to Alabama in a semifinal to finish 12-2, are ranked No. 11 in the preseason coaches poll.

In his first season at Michigan, coach Jim Harbaugh doubled the Wolverines' win total last year. Michigan routed Florida 41-7 in the Citrus Bowl to finish 10-3 and is ranked No. 8 in the coaches poll.
