Here is a look at the top-10 girls basketball teams around the Long Beach area.

1. Downey

Record: 18-5. The Vikings need to win Friday’s game against Lynwood to tie the Knights in the SGVL standings. Lynwood currently owns the tiebreaker, 1-0.

2. Poly

Record: 13-8. The Jackrabbits, No. 11 in Division 1, remain perfect in Moore League play but will have a challenge on Saturday against D1 No. 3 Windward at home.

3. Lynwood

Record: 16-7. The Knights can secure the San Gabriel Valley League title this week with wins over Gahr and Downey.

4. Los Alamitos

Record: 18-7. The Griffins went 1-2 last week but 1-1 in the Surf League, leaving the Griffins tied with Corona del Mar and Huntington Beach for first place.

5. St. Anthony

Record: 9-15. The Saints are still adjusting to the Del Rey League, but at 2-3 can still qualify for the playoffs with a strong end to the season.

6. Millikan

Record: 20-2. The Rams, securely in second place in the Moore League, are ranked No. 3 in Division 2AA. Millikan’s games against Lakewood this week and Poly next are the last remaining challenges on the schedule.

7. Mayfair

Record: 13-3. Fourth in Division 3A, the Monsoons can secure one of the Suburban League’s two playoff spots with just one win in four games.

8. Lakewood

Record: 6-1. The Lancers, tied with Millikan for second place in the Moore League, play Poly for the first time on Wednesday and then the Rams Friday.

9. Cerritos

Record: 14-8. At 4-2 in 605 League play, the Dons are in good position to clinch a playoff spot. A win Friday against Pioneer would be a big step toward that goal.

10. Dominguez

Record: 16-7. The Dons are currently a half-game out of the final SGVL playoff spot. The season finale next week against Warren looms with both teams vying for the same third-place finish.
