Arizona manager happy Diamondbacks are done with the Rangers this season

ARLINGTON - Arizona, the National League West leader, concluded a brief four-game season series against the Rangers with a 6-4 win on Tuesday at Globe Life Park.

The Diamondbacks are glad to be done with the Rangers.

"They play with a ton of energy,'' Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said of the Rangers. "They play with an excitement. When the momentum is created and the ball starts rolling with those guys, they can be very tough and put up some crooked numbers in a hurry.''

The Rangers did that twice in this series.

On Monday, they reached Zack Greinke, the Diamondbacks' No. 1 starter, for three runs in the fourth inning on the way to a 5-3 win.

In this game, the Rangers challenged starter Patrick Corbin by scoring twice in the sixth inning to come within 5-3. Corbin responded by retiring Robinson Chirinos and Joey Gallo to end the inning with Jurickson Profar at third.

"They have big left-handed hitters,'' Lovullo said. "In this ballpark, it's a crapshoot. Sometimes, the ball flies out of here. You're holding your breath the entire time.''

The Rangers' 2-2 season record against Arizona stands in stark contrast to their performance against the American League division leaders. The Rangers are 10-22 against Boston, Cleveland and Houston. The Rangers are in the wrong West division.
