First look! Lex Scott Davis as singer Toni Braxton in new Lifetime's biopic Unbreak My Heart based on R&B icon's memoir

Lifetime has released the first photo of Lex Scott Davis as Toni Braxton in their upcoming biopic about the singer's life.

The image shows Lex in character as the 90s superstar as she belts out one of her hits onstage.

The TV movie is based on Toni's memoir Unbreak My Heart, and follows the singer through her divorce, financial woes, career ups and down, battle with lupus and caring for her family, including her autistic son.

Lex is relatively unknown, previously appearing in an episode of The Exes and as an extra in Straight Outta Compton.

Unbreak My Heart will air on Lifetime on January 23 and will be followed by a one-hour special called Beyond The Headlines: The Toni Braxton Story. 

The TV special will feature interviews with Toni and her family and friends.

The singer, 47, will also appear in the biopic as well as being a producer on the film.

The R&B icon also starred with her four sisters on WeTV reality show Braxton Family Values. The show follows the lives of the hitmaker and her four sisters Tamar, Towanda, Trina and Traci, as well as their mother Miss E.

Lifetime has said the film will be 'the never-before-told story of the measures Braxton took to make herself and her family whole again, serving as an inspiration to people around the world.'

This is the first starring role for Baltimore-raised Lex, who is the niece of singer and producer Rico Love, who has worked with stars including Usher, Nelly, Kelly Rowland, Chris Brown, Fergie and Beyoncé.

The film also stars Tiffany Hines asTamar Braxton), Skye P. Marshall (as Towanda Braxton) and Cortney Scott Wright (as Traci Braxton).

Toni's creative partner Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds, will be played by actor Gavin Houston.
