Marshall running back Tyler King has been named Conference USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
King racked up 165 yards in the fourth quarter, ending his monster day with 195 yards and two touchdowns on only 22 carries. King’s rushing total is the most by a Marshall player since 2014 and was the second-highest total nationally this weekend.
King is averaging 7.35 yards per carry this month and ranks third nationally in fourth quarter rushing yardage this season with 242. He is No. 38 nationally in rushing yards per game (88.3) and has the third-fewest carries (87) of anyone in college football with at least 500 rushing yards.
The Thundering Herd (4-2, 2-1 Conference USA) will be back in action Saturday when Florida Atlantic (3-3, 1-1) visits for a 2:30 p.m. Homecoming kick at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

MARSHALL MEN’S SOCCER: Redshirt junior goalkeeper Paulo Pita was named the Conference USA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.Pita recorded 19 saves and allowed just one goal over the past two matches, including 14 against the fifth ranked team in the country the Kentucky Wildcats.
The Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazil, native began the week with a shutout over Purdue Fort Wayne. Pita recorded five saves in the Herd’s 3-0 victory, his third clean sheet of the season.He finished the week with a save percentage of .950 and a mere 0.53 goals against average.

BOB COUSY WATCHLIST:Marshall basketball senior point guard Jon Elmore has been named to the Bob Cousy Award watch list Monday afternoon.The award, named for Basketball Hall of Famer Bob Cousy, is awarded to the top collegiate point guard in the nation.
Through 96 career games, the former George Washington and South Charleston High School standout is fourth on the program’s scoring list (1,888 points), third in made 3-pointers (242), third in assists (592) and second in made free throws (518).
The winner of the 2019 Bob Cousy Award will be presented at The College Basketball Awards in Los Angeles, CA on Friday, April 12, 2019.
