ALCESTER and Ragley maintained their unbeaten record as they won the Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Evesham Division.

Evesham's Prince Henry's Cricket Centre was treated to two well-contested matches both decided on the penultimate ball.

Prince Henry's beat Pershore and the wooden spoon goes to Harvington.

Ashton-under-Hill (105-4) lost to Alcester and Ragley (107-5) with one ball remaining.

Both sides decided to change their regular wicketkeepers and Ashton, without Tom Archer, soon lost Will Archer (16) on 28 bowled by Steve Capron.

John Cooper (32 not out) and Richard Cooper (19) took the score to 54 with adventurous running before the latter gave a return catch to Adam Warbrick.

The innings lost all impetus and Ashton struggled to add 26 in the next four overs.

Mahesh Patel (15no) and John Cooper, returning after retirement, lifted the innings, adding the same amount in the final two overs.

In reply prolific scorer Tim Jackson was caught cheaply off Archer in the first over.

Warbrick (27) and Max Biltcliffe steadied the ship, both retiring in the seventh over with the score on 66-1.

With wickets in hand and a kinder run-rate Alcester made a game of it with strange running accounting for two wickets in consecutive overs.

Warbrick returned but was run out without scoring and Biltcliffe soon lost his last partner run out in the 11th over.

Fifteen were required to tie from eight balls and win the league.

Last man Biltcliffe hit nine from the first four deliveries followed by a wide and the extra ball brought them to within one run of the title with two balls left.

He finished unbeaten on 47 and Patel bowled his three overs for just 10.

Pershore (109 all out) lost to Prince Henry's (110-4) with one ball remaining.

Prince Henry's young side have improved during the season, learning to use the angles and run positively.

In their last match of the season the team got their top batsmen retired and then crucially back to the crease later on.

Pershore posted an average score with the help of Chris Ridings (37), Craig Witheford (20) and George Kirby (15) but lost their last two wickets in the 11th over.

Robbie Hardwick and Patrick Atkins again produced a meaningful partnership, both retiring in the fifth over with the score on 59-0.

Momentum was initially lost but Oliver Timperley (25) stuck at the task without too much of the strike.

Surprisingly Will Green did not bowl the final over with three required as Hardwick (32no) and Atkins (29no) just did what was required.
