Autumn is officially here, and with it comes cooler temperatures already.
The high in the Denver metro area Friday is expected to be in the lower 80s, National Weather Service spokeswoman Natalie Sullivan said. That’s several degrees cooler than the record high of 92 degrees set Thursday. The overnight low should be in the lower to mid-50s.
Temperatures should drop more this weekend with a Saturday high in the mid-60s and a Sunday high in the mid-50s, Sullivan said. Temperatures are expected to stick in the mid to upper 60s range next week.
Showers are likely with a chance
There is a red flag warning for the Palmer Divide and nearby Eastern Plains Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. due to wind gusts of up to 40 mph and low humidity around 15 percent, Sullivan said. People should not have sparks or open burning.
