2 Indecent Exposures, 2 Businesses Burglarized: Columbia Crime

Crimes in Columbia reported recently include indecent exposures, business burglaries, delivery driver robbed and more, police say.

COLUMBIA, MD — The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent crimes in Columbia. Arrests do not indicate convictions. There were two indecent exposures, two businesses burglarized, two men with guns arrested and a robbery, among other crimes, according to police.

A woman was walking on the path in the 8800 block of Spiral Cut when a man in his early 20s approached her, exposed himself and walked away. The indecent exposure occurred around 4:12 p.m. on Oct. 16. The suspect was described as a black man in his early 20s who was 6 feet tall with short black hair. At the time of the indecent exposure, he was wearing a black zip-up jacket and sweatpants.

In a similar case, a woman was walking in the 6000 block of Majors Lane when someone in his late teens who was wearing a red jacket with dark-colored shorts approached her, flashed her and then walked away. The indecent exposure happened around 5 p.m. on Oct. 10.

Dunkin' Donuts in the 87100 block of Minstrel Way was burglarized at 12:02 a.m. on Oct. 15. Change was stolen after the back door was pried open.

U.S. Home and Auto Insurance Group in the 9000 block of Red Branch Road was burglarized by someone who got in through an unlocked door and stole a document. The burglary occurred at 12:43 a.m. on Oct. 13.

A delivery driver was robbed and assaulted. He was making a food delivery in the 8900 block of Crosshive Court when two strangers implied they had a knife, assaulted him, stole the food and took the cash. There were no serious injuries in the assault, which occurred at 8:54 p.m. on Oct. 14.

Police discovered weapons violations while making a traffic stop on Robert Fulton Drive at Solar Walk around 4 a.m. on Oct. 14. Two men were charged. A 23-year-old from Flagflower Place in Columbia and a 25-year-old from Hitching Post Lane in Laurel were each charged with eight weapons violations, including two counts apiece of having a loaded handgun in vehicle, loaded handgun on person, handgun on person and handgun in vehicle. The Columbia man was also charged with illegal possession of ammunition and illegal possession of a regulated firearm.

A vehicle tag was reported stolen in the 6100 block of Quiet Times at 9:16 p.m. on Oct. 15.

A storage unit was burglarized in the 10300 block of Swift Stream Place. A bicycle and electronics were stolen, reported on Oct. 14.

Tools were stolen from a vehicle in the 8800 block of Tamar Drive between Oct. 13 and 14.

The tires from two vehicles were stolen in the 8400 block of Greystone Lane between Oct. 11 and 12.

A purse was stolen from a vehicle in the 6600 block of Cedar Lane between 9:45 and 11:47 a.m. on Oct. 12.
