A Huntington Beach man was arrested Thursday morning in connection to a fraud scheme that affected more than 40 people, officials said.

Huntington Beach Police were called to the Walgreens at 4935 Warner Avenue at about 8 a.m. regarding an envelope of counterfeit $100 bills left at the store on Tuesday, said Jennifer Marlatt, public information officer for the police department.

In total, about $4,700 was found in counterfeit bills.

In addition, during the investigation, police found checks belonging to 44 people.

“The checks themselves were legitimate,” Marlatt said. “They were fraudulently made out to someone else in different amounts.”

As an officer took a report, the manager told the officer the person who left the envelope was inside the store.

Kyle Noon, 24, was contacted and arrested.

Marlatt said police were still working on the exact charges.
