Sultry actress Christina Hendricks loves playing “Mad Men” character Joan Holloway, but says she’s only like her in one way: pleasing her husband.
Hendricks, 37, revealed in an interview with Lucky magazine that at home, she won’t dress down if husband, Geoffrey Arend, is around.
“I can’t do that to my husband, not after just three years of marriage,” she says — about wearing sweatpants around the house.
“At home, I put on a low-cut caftan, and he’s like, ‘Babe, you look great.'”
It may sound like she’s taking a page out of the 1950s, but the buxom redhead explained that she “finally understands” her character Joan.
“Mad Men” creator Matthew Weiner described the sexy secretary as needing to be “helpful.”
“Joan used to be Peggy,” Hendricks said. “She just wants the next girl to not get trampled on like she did.”
Now well into the show’s sixth season, Hendricks says she has gotten used to the attention.
“Just walk down the hall and try to imagine that you know everyone is looking at you,” she said.
“Joan is fascinating. I would play Joan forever.”
