HYANNIS -- Whenever the Barnstable Red Raiders got the ball close to Falmouth’s net, more often than not Callie Rogorzenski turned it into a goal.

Rogorzenski scored four goals and assisted on two more, and Barnstable scored the final four goals of the game to beat the Falmouth Clippers 10-8 on a foggy Friday afternoon at Barnstable’s W. Leo Shields Memorial Field.

“Those last three minutes, I said, ‘You guys need to settle in,’ and they did,” Barnstable coach Jen Sadler said.

“They’re all very athletic, and so that killer instinct kinda pops in, and they want to go right to net, and they want to score and get it done. They are slowly learning to work together, to really work for a quality opportunity.”

The Red Raiders (1-3) fell behind 8-6 after Olivia Beaton and Emma Helfrich scored back-to-back Clippers’ goals midway through the second half. Falmouth (0-2) goalie Casey Waggett saved a shot from Rogorzenski on the ensuing draw, but Barnstable kept possession, and Allison Carter found Claire Deely for a Red Raiders goal with 7:04 left in the game.

A penalty gave Emma Glover a free position about 10 yards from Falmouth’s goal, and she quickly scored to tie the game 8-8 with 3:54 left in the game.

Barnstable had struggled with draws earlier in the game, with Falmouth repeatedly winning the battle at midfield and quickly going on the attack. That changed in the final minutes of the game, with Rogorzenski grabbing a loose ball after the draw following Glover’s goal.

Rogorzenski drew a penalty at almost the exact same spot Glover did, then scored easily on the free position for a 9-8 lead with 2:41 left. Another draw went to Rogorzenski, and Shannon Roycroft ran about 30 seconds off the clock before finding Deely in front of the net for an insurance goal with 2:02 left.

“We were possessing the ball really well, and we were working together and moving the ball around and just kinda not pressuring it too much into the net,” Rogorzenski said of her team’s comeback. “We kind of look for the double, and then see where the open is, and then we just kind of pass it and move it around or cut to the net if possible.”

The Clippers still had enough time to mount a comeback, having already erased a two-goal deficit in the final 1:47 of the first half on goals by Samantha Theroux and Savannah Jensen. But Barnstable goalie Bridget Murphy came up with a save on a shot from Madeline O’Neil, and the Red Raiders maintained possession for the rest of the game.

Murphy had nine saves for Barnstable, including four on Clippers free position shots.

“I just started this year, so using my body is easier for me than my stick,” Murphy said. “So I just try to get in front of everything I can.”

Barnstable jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game, starting with a shot from Rogorzenski that bounced in front of the goal and rolled in. Strong stick-handling from Glover led to Barnstable’s second goal with 22:35 left in the first half.

Beaton and O’Neil later scored to tie the game up, but Barnstable retook the lead on a solid string of passing that ended with Nicole Derosier finding Rogorzenski in front of the net. Rogorzenski then finished a long, multi-shot Barnstable possession with another goal for a 4-2 lead with 8:06 left.

“Callie has scored many, many goals this season, and I’m sure she’ll continue to score many, many goals,” Sadler said. “Callie shows up for every game.”

A 20-yard pass from Rogorzenski to Cassie Kornhiser led to a Barnstable goal early in the second half, but O’Neil tied it with 18:11 left. Theroux gave Falmouth its first lead when she caught a pass in between three Red Raiders defenders and scored, but a pass from Rogorzenski to Glover tied the game 6-6 with 13:54 left.

“We kind of lost a little bit of our energy (late in the game), but I thought it was an overall really good game,” Falmouth coach Courtney Lima said.

“Our ball-transitioning was outstanding today. We did a great job using every point on the field.”

Beaton led Falmouth with two goals and an assist. Theroux and O’Neil scored two goals each.

Glover had three goals for Barnstable, and Deely had two
