SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Large trees fell in different parts of San Diego County early Monday morning, with one of the trees coming down on a parked car.
At around 2 a.m., on Campus Avenue near Tyler Avenue in University Heights, a palm tree at least 20 feet tall snapped at its base and smashed the windshield of a Lexus sedan.
While the downed tree damaged the Lexus, but it did not to affect any other vehicles.
City crews were called to remove the tree as it blocked a good portion of the roadway.
About 30 minutes earlier, in Rancho San Diego, a tree in front of a home fell down and blocked a street, but it did not cause any damage to vehicles or structures.
The tree apparently uprooted from the ground and came down in the 10000 block of Dutton Drive, just east of Avocado Boulevard.
County workers told 10News it appeared the roots of the tree were cut after some work was done to the home.
In both instances, strong winds and the recent round of wet weather are believed to have contributed to the fallen trees.
