OUTDOORS REPORT

Grenada...WOW!!!!

Sid Steen, Kosciusko, MS, and I teamed up to fish a 2 day tournament last weekend at Grenada--March 21 & 22.  Our best 7 weighed 15 lbs and change on Friday.  And, on Saturday, we weighed a 7 fish limit that hit 18.77 lbs--the heaviest 7 fish sack that either Sid or I have ever weighed.

In our club tournaments, Sid and I are on separate teams--competitors.  But, after the Magnolia Crappie Club's tournament on March 15th where Herman Duckworth and I could catch only 3 fish, I was determined to return to Grenada to catch some of those Big Mamas I saw other MCCers weigh in on the 15th.

The lake conditions were changed somewhat, with the biggest change being surface temps.  On the 15th Herman and I could find no surface temp higher than the low 50s.  We even fished in some high 40s on Thursday and Friday practice days prior to Saturday, the 15th.

But, thankfully, the temps warmed to the mid to high 50s the following week for the 2-day Crappiemasters event.

CM had 110 teams.  Sid and I finished just out of the money in 28th place, but we were having so much fun catching 'em as big as they grow on Saturday, we didn't really care whether we "scored" or not.

Congrats, to Hugh Krutz, fellow blogger here on C-L.  Hugh and partner, Brad Taylor, finished in the Top 5, representing our local club with distinction, against "pro-fessional" crappie anglers from all over the country--shoot, one team was from New Jersey.

New Jersey?  Do they have crappie in New Jersey.

MCC fishes Barnett on April 12th.  Come join the fun.  Go to www.magnoliacrappieclub.com for more info.
