Fall family festival on tap at Church of the Nazarene

ALANSON — Alanson Church of the Nazarene, located on the corner of M-68 and Mission Roads, will be having a Family Fun Festifall from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, to provide a safe, one-stop alternative on Halloween.

All are welcome to come for fun, candy and games.

The church also hosts a weekly food pantry/clothes closet ministry that takes place from 4-5:30 p.m. each Wednesday.

A hot meal is served and you go home with a box of food.

Interview with the black man who infiltrated the KKK

BOYNE CITY — An exclusive filmed interview with musician and author Daryl Davis will be screened at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at Lifetree Café.

“I wanted to question those people who wanted to hurt me, or hang me,” Davis says. “I needed to get direct answers about why they could hate me when they didn’t even know me.”

During the program — titled “The Black and White Truth About Racism: Will We Ever Live in a Colorblind World?” — participants will have the opportunity to discuss their own experiences with prejudice or racism.

Admission to the 60-minute event is free.

Lifetree Café is located in the First Presbyterian Church, 401 S. Park St. Use the Pine Street entrance.

Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual, comfortable setting.

Boyne City United Methodist offering rest stop on Halloween

BOYNE CITY — From 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, the Boyne City United Methodist Church, 324 S. Park St., is offering a resting place for trick-or-treaters.

There will be restrooms, warmth, cookies, hot chocolate, cider and coffee available for those who stop in at the church on Halloween.

Gospel meetings set at Boulder Park Terrace

CHARLEVOIX — Gospel meetings will be taking place at Boulder Park Terrace for the next four Fridays, Oct. 20, 27, Nov. 3 and 10. The meetings will be from 7:30-8:30 p.m. with ministers Matthew Jensen and Jason McInally. The goal of the meetings is to confirm and inspire faith in Jesus Christ and in his teachings, according to a press release. Boulder Park Terrace is located at 14676 W. Harvest dinner and auction at Evangelical Lutheran

EAST JORDAN — The Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Jordan will have its annual Harvest Dinner and Auction beginning at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.

Dinner will be served at 5:30 (freewill offering) with the auction starting immediately thereafter. There will be good, quality household items fresh produce, homemade items and baked goods to bid on. All are invited to come and enjoy food, fellowship and fun. Motivational entertainer in area for 2 events

WALLOON LAKE — Tom Coverly is the most requested motivational entertainer in the U.S., and he will be in the area to share his mind-blowing illusions and life-changing hope.

Coverly will be at Walloon Lake Community Church, 4320 M-75 North, Walloon Lake, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, and at the East Jordan High School auditorium, 101 Maple St., East Jordan, at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23.

He has entertained celebrities like Jep and Jessica Robertson, Amber Montana and the entire cast and producers from “Batman vs. Superman.”

Coverly also has shared the platform with nationally recognized speakers like Nick Vujicic (“Life Without Limbs), and musicians Toby Mac, Newsboys, Skillet, Kari Jobe, For King & Country, Chris Tomlin and Danny Gokey from “American Idol” and many more.
