Eleven years ago today, a powerful EF5 tornado touched down in Greensburg, Kansas.

The storm, with winds over 200 miles per hour, destroyed 95 percent of the town on May 4th, 2007.

So much damage was done, in fact, that no buildings left could be used as a shelter after the storm hit.

13 people were killed by this storm system, which produced not only this massive tornado, but also 24 other tornadoes on that day.
