—After dialing 911 to report that he was going to jump off a toll bridge in Route 78 that connects Phillipsburg and Williams Township, an unidentified man was seen by a trooper jumping off the bridge moments later, State Police said.

The white male was dead upon arrival, a State Trooper from the Perryville Station confirmed.

The call came in at 11:09 a.m., and a Trooper made a visual confirmation of the man's location atop the bridge at 11:15 a.m. Moments later, the man jumped, State Police said.

Troopers are still out at the scene with local police, and emergency first responders are attending to the man, State Police said.

State Police could not immediately say where the man landed, although radio reports indicated that he fell onto the railroad tracks below the bridge.

The investigation at the scene is still ongoing. State Police said they will release the identity of the man once next of kin is notified.
