You can also stop serving alcohol to your guests several hours before the party ends and can provide your guests with a place to stay the night.

If you’re attending a party, don’t drink and drive. Plan ahead and designate a sober driver. If you are impaired, call a taxi, use mass transit, or get a sober friend or family member to pick you up. You can also stay where you are until you are sober.

Stay hydrated by alternating alcoholic drinks with water, juice, or soda. If someone around you is impaired, take the keys from him or her.

When going out, take some friends with you. It’s more fun that way anyway! Also make sure you take a cell phone in case something negative occurs.

You should also be mindful of your surroundings and of how others are acting. Give a wide berth to those who seem out of control. Also be mindful of your drink – don’t set it down where someone else could get to it.

Also, remember that Yellow Cab offers free cab rides home on New Year’s Eve.

Have a safe and happy new year!
