Pauline Alderman was born October 8, 1936 to Lewis and Paulina (Paulson) Alderman at the family home in Casselton, ND. She graduated from Casselton High School in 1954. After graduation she worked at the Casselton State Bank until she married Roger Martin on March 22, 1959. They then moved to Minnewaukan, ND where Roger took his first job with the County Extension Service. Pauline worked at Farmers State Bank while they lived in Minnewaukan. They moved to Napoleon in October 1960 when Roger accepted the Logan County Agent position. For the next 32 years she was Roger's unpaid assistant helping him weigh calves, with horse trail rides, cookie maker for all his meetings, and many, many more tasks too numerous to list completely. She also was active in Homemakers and a 4H leader. She canned massive quantities of fruits and vegetables. She loved the Napoleon community and especially being able to learn to cook various German dishes although she would admit she never mastered kuchen. However, she was a master at making bread yule bock (Swedish goat) and all her grandchildren as well as the nieces and nephews looked forward to having a yule bock on Christmas morning. She also spent many years as an in-home child care provider and was especially close with the Willardsen children. After she and Roger retired in 1992 they enjoyed many summers fishing at Pollock, SD and winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Pauline passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at CHI St. Alexius in Bismarck, ND. She was 81 years old.

Pauline is survived by her husband Roger Martin, daughters Geraldine (Harley) Reed, Mary (Terry) Westra and her five grandchildren: Vanessa Reed, Simone Reed, Nicholas Westra, Rachel (Matt) Ramsett, and Steven Westra, and her brother, Robert Alderman.
