Cannonballs coming: Will Craig hits HR #19

West Virginia and Morgantown were off.

— Indianapolis (65-55) was scheduled for a doubleheader with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but ended up playing just one, five-inning game that was shortened by rain. The Indians lost the game, 7-3. Nick Kingham started and threw four shutout innings before coming unglued in the fifth. He allowed seven runs in the inning and never did retire a batter. The game was called with nobody out after Tanner Anderson had come on in relief, but before Anderson faced a batter. In his four-plus innings, Kingham allowed ten hits and a walk, and struck out only one. The Indy runs all came on Jerrick Suiter’s second home run. Kevin Newman and Max Moroff were 0-3, and Kevin Kramer 0-2. Jose Osuna went 1-3. Jason Martin’s collapse continued, as he went 0-2 with two strikeouts and now has just six hits in his last 61 at-bats.

— Three Altoona (63-53) pitchers combined on an 11-hit shutout as the Curve beat New Hampshire, 5-0. Dario Agrazal started and lasted six innings, allowing seven of the hits, along with a walk and two strikeouts. Will Craig (pictured) went 3-4, falling a triple shy of a cycle. Craig’s home run was his 19th and drove in his 94th run. Logan Hill was 2-4 with his 15th home run and three RBIs. Cole Tucker, Ke’Bryan Hayes and Bryan Reynolds each went 1-4. Hayes now has a 15-game hitting streak.

— Bradenton (50-63) lost for the 19th time in 23 games, 6-1, to Clearwater. The Marauders had only two hits, singles by Casey Hughston and Adrian Valerio. Evan Piechota gave up four runs in five innings.

— Apparently reeling from the loss of their top prospect, Bristol (25-28) got pulverized by Johnson City, 15-5. Fortunately, there was plenty of pitching talent on display in this game: Colin Selby (4.42 ERA), Luis Nova (7.36), Vince Deyzel (5.24), John O’Reilly (5.60), Austin Shields (13.50) and Joe Jacques (7.79). Jonah Davis hit his ninth home run before being excused from the carnage mid-game. Mason Martin was 1-3 and Sherten Apostel 0-3.

— A two-out, walkoff single by Jack Herman gave the GCL Pirates (20-23) a 3-2 win over the Blue Jays. Herman finished 3-4. Ji-Hwan Bae was 1-4. Brad Case gave up one run over six innings on five hits. He walked none and struck out four.

— The DSL Pirates1 (29-33) lost to the Rays2, 8-6. Emilson Rosado accounted for much of the offense, going 2-5 with a double and four RBIs. Juan Pie (17) was 0-1 with four walks and Darwin Baez (17) 2-5. Starter Miguel Diaz (16) threw three shutout innings, allowing two hits and a walk, with no strikeouts. Bryan Torres (17) gave up one earned and one unearned run in three innings. He allowed three hits, walked none and struck out two.

— The DSL Pirates2 (24-38) lost to Colorado, 4-1, in a game shortened to six and a half innings by rain. Angel Basabe (17) had a hit in his only at-bat.
