After two years of dating, Mary-Kate Olsen is now engaged to longtime boyfriend Olivier Sarkozy. Olsen, 27,  went public with her romance to Sarkozy, 44 in 2012. Currently, they live in a $6.25 million townhouse together. This will be Sarkozy’s second marriage and Olsen’s first. Sarkozy was married to Charlotte Bernard.

Sarkozy has two children from his previous marriage, Julien, 12, and Margo, 10. “Mary-Kate has made him a better father. She remembers all the kids’ special events. She thinks he’s a great dad,” a source said about the couple.

Mary-Kate Olsen is most known for her role in the TV sitcom Full House, in which she played the role of Michelle Tanner, along with her twin sister Ashley Olsen. The series ran from 1987 to 1995. After the show ended, the sisters starred in two other sitcoms So Little Time and Two of a Kind. Olsen and her sister quit acting in 2012 to focus more on their fashion career.

Before meeting Sarkozy, Olsen dated Maxwell Snow, the younger brother of of the late artist Dash Snow from September 2006 until mid-2007. She also dated artist Nate Lowman in 2008. The couple split two years later. Despite the 17-year age difference, the newly engaged couple seem to have plenty in common. The lovebirds are constantly seen attending New York Knicks games together. “MK is constantly complaining about boys not being mature enough for her,” an insider said.

The Beastly actress’ twin sister, Ashley also prefers to date older men. She has been seen with Moneyball director Bennett Miller, who is 20 years her senior. Before dating Miller, Ashley Olsen was in a relationship with David Schultz, CEO of Oliver Peoples, for six months. At the time, he was 17 years her senior.

Despite the initial shock from fans, the Olsen family are excited about the engagement and have taken a liking to Olsen’s boyfriend. “Her loved ones have a pretty high opinion of him, too,” a source said. “Mary-Kate’s family thinks Oliver is the best thing to happen to her.”

Before announcing her engagement to longtime boyfriend Sarkozy, Olsen had thoughts of starting a family with him. “She’d like to get pregnant, but isn’t so sure about marriage,” a source said in December.

In an interview with Marie Claire, Olsen said she wouldn’t raise her children in the same environment she grew up in. Most of her childhood was spent behind a camera lens. ” I look at old photos of me, and I don’t feel connected to them at all,” she stated. “I would never wish my upbringing on anyone.”

Before meeting her fiance, the fashion designer was in the spotlight for an eating disorder. She struggled with anorexia during her teen years and entered a rehab facility in 2004. She attributed her illness with the pressure of being in the public eye. Since then, she’s learned to communicate better when troubles arise. “I think it’s really important to be able to talk when something’s wrong,” she said.

News of Olsen’s engagement to longtime boyfriend Olivier Sarkozy first broke Feb. 28. The exact date of when she will walk down the aisle is unknown.
