The funeral for Oscar H. Ost, Fargo, ND formerly of Fredonia, ND will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Kulm, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home. Burial will be at Martin Luther Lutheran Cemetery in Fredonia, ND

Oscar H. Ost was born May 6, 1924 east of Fredonia, N.D., the son of Ben and Emma (Ruff) Ost. When Oscar was 2, the family moved to a farm between Fredonia and Lehr (Guyson). He attended grade school in the Laut school district. Oscar married Viola M. Roloff on March 25, 1949, in Fredonia. They made their home on the Ost family farm until moving to Fargo in the fall of 2011. In Fargo, he enjoyed socializing with his many friends at the Heritage House. His next step was to Home Sweet Home under the wonderful care of Don and Gloria Fornes and their staff. He had a passion for farming that never ended. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and making others smile. He was happiest when cracking jokes at the local businesses.

Ost died Thursday evening January 14, 2016 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. He was 91 years old.

He is survived by one son, Dale Ost, Brasilia, Brazil, SA; and one daughter, Doris (Boyd) Palmer, Fargo, N.D.; three grandchildren Bruno Ost, Brasilia, Brazil, SA; Sabrina (Cesear Castro) Ost, Atlanta, GA; LeeAnn Palmer (Tom Miller), Grand Forks, N.D.; one brother-in-law Wilbert Gutschmidt, Gackle, N.D., and two nieces and three nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Viola, his son Lyle Ost, his sisters Edna Koenig and Elva Gutschmidt, his brother Edmund Ost and his parents Ben and Emma Ost.
