Watch: Rob Gronkowski 24/7 reign ends, TE opts out of WWE contract

There will be a new championship for Rob Gronkowski to conquer.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end saw his 56-day streak as WWE 24/7 champion come to an end Monday night on RAW when R-Truth won the title for the umpteenth time.

Gronk was at his home with a friend who agreed to help him take a Tik Tok video. Truth was there posing as a gardener in the background. As Gronk danced, his friend revealed that he was wearing a referee’s shirt, then Truth rolled him up to win the belt. Gronk was mad but his friend tried to reason with him because he had a new career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming up.

In another wrestling, um, move by Gronk, he has opted out of his WWE contract.

Dave Meltzer has confirmed a Wrestling Inc report tonight that Gronkowski has exercised a release clause in his contract. As part of that release clause, he will reportedly not be able to join another wrestling company for “a set period of time”.

The report also said while there was an expectation that Gronkowski would wrestle at SummerSlam, any match with Gronkowski will no longer be happening.
