Orland History Museum Wants Your 'Then And Now' Photos

ORLAND PARK, IL - The Orland Park History Museum is celebrating the village's 125th birthday with a 'Then & Now' photography contest.

Photographers of all skill sets are invited to submit photos that highlight the many old and new landmarks that bring color to the village, officials said, in a community alert.

“We’re asking residents to submit photos that show something old in Orland, and then submit a photo that shows something new,” said Sarah Konzen, museum curator. “If residents want to submit their old photographs and then take a photo of more modern construction, that would be great, too.”

Residents can also submit a collage of old and new photos – highlighting the newer developments happening around town or capturing images of the oldest buildings in the village.

“We hope residents will get creative and have fun with this contest,” Konzen said. “All photos can be dropped off at the museum or emailed directly to me with the subject line Then/Now Photo Contest.”

Submissions must include a full name and an email address or phone number. Photos will be on display at the museum and the winner will be announced in March.

The history museum's current exhibit, ‘Life of an Orlander,' runs until March, 2018 and highlights the growth of Orland Park from a small farming town of 300 at the time of its incorporation in 1892, to a booming suburb in 2017 with almost 60,000 residents.

Village Orland Park History Museum opened in April of 2016 and is open every Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m.to 1 p.m. Admission is free.
