Vanessa Hudgens on expressing herself through beauty

Updated

Throughout her decades-long career in Hollywood, Vanessa Hudgens has long been experimenting with beauty and fashion on-and-off the big screen.

"I started getting into beauty when I was probably 5 years old and I've always just loved it so much because you can literally turn yourself into whoever you want to be. I've always loved it as a means of expression and I still do," Hudgens told AOL at the NYC launch of her nail polish collection with SinfulColors.

"I can't think of something that I do mindlessly. I feel like fashion and beauty is a place to express yourself. I know that my look changes constantly and every day. Sometimes multiple times a day depending on my mood. I just feel like it's an amazing thing to be able to celebrate as a woman," she explained on self-expression.

The Vanessa Hudgens x SinfulColors nail polish collaboration, which is inspired by galactic colors, sold out in less than 48-hours after it launched and was just recently restocked on Amazon.

"I've done a few collection with SinfulColors now and we always have the best time. For this collection called 'Cosmic Dreams' I wanted to do something a little bit different and I thought what's a better place to look for inspiration than space! I love astrology and I love constellations and galaxies," Hudgens said. "It's just always the most incredibly stunning in photographs that I see. So I wanted to take those colors and glam them up a little bit by adding metallics and glitters and then we created a top coat called the 'SinfulShine' which gives you a gel-effect at home. They are super shiny and long lasting and you can do it yourself!"

As for her beauty must-haves? "This SinfulColors top coat because it's always nice to spruce up your nails and make them extra shiny. A good mascara. I'm using one right now by Thrive Causemetics. It peals off with water so that when you take off your makeup it doesn't smudge all over your face. And "Drunk Elephant's Lip Balm," she added.
