Shoreline Firefighters Sent To Fight Soap Lake Wildfire

SOAP LAKE, WA - Three firefighters from Shoreline were called to fight the Soap Lake fire in Eastern Washington along with hundreds of other firefighters from around the state.

Thankfully, the Soap Like fire was 100 percent contained by Thursday afternoon, according to the state Fire Marshal. The fire broke out on June 11 along SR 17 north of Soap Lake. The fire burned over 2,000 acres and about 200 firefighters from across Washington traveled to fight it.

The wildfire was the second in the this wildfire season where statewide resources were mobilized. According to Shoreline fire, the local firefighters went to Soap Lake with crews from Bothell and Duvall.

Four Shoreline firefighters helped fight the Jolly Mountain fire last summer, which nearly devastated homes near Cle Elum and Roslyn. Shoreline firefighters Capt. Brian Gibb, paramedic Rich Sewell, and firefighters Gabe Mannix and Nate Etherington worked to cut fire lines in the wilderness north of Roslyn.
