Leonard "Lenny" J. Streifel

Leonard (Lenny) James Streifel, 74, of Colfax, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Lenny was born January 14, 1942, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the son of Stanley and Elizabeth Streifel.

He was married to Dee Ann Kuhlman of Osakis, Minnesota, for 29 years. He was also married to Penny Johnson of Fridley, Minnesota, for 23 years.

He served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1963. Employed by National Cash Register and later started multiple cash registers sales companies, in Crystal, Rochester, and Brainerd, Minnesota. He operated Surface Specialists, a bathtub repair and refinishing, franchise for 20 years in Colfax, Wisconsin. He started Lenny's Laser, a laser cutting company, and then entered retirement in 2013.

Lenny had a passion for the outdoors, specifically gardening and hunting. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, Vikings, and Packers football. He cherished time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren telling stories, jokes, and pulling pranks. He enjoyed life and made time spent with him memorable. In his spare time he enjoyed canning, and cooking weird foods.

He is survived by his children: sons, Mark Douglas Streifel and his wife Gail Streifel of Sparta, Steven James Streifel and his wife LyAnn Streifel of Gaylord, Michigan; daughter, Jill Suzanne Schmidt and her husband Alan Schmidt of Sisseton, South Dakota; step children, Sandra Rhude, Carol Sontag, Jill Ellavsky, Dana Berg, Jim Ellavsky, and John Ellavsky; 37 Grandchildren; and 5 Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both loving parents; a brother; and 3 sisters.

A Memorial service will be held at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, 106 W Franklin St., Sparta, Wisconsin, 54656 on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Following the service, full military honors will be provided by VFW Post 2112.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
