BHOPAL: "Wildlife conservation is about protecting forests and ultimately, human beings, environment and nature as well," said
chief secretary of
Madhya Pradesh,
Anthony DeSa.
He was distributing prizes to winners of various competitions held during the wildlife conservation week at its concluding ceremony organized at
Van Vihar on Monday. The CS administered wildlife conservation pledge to those present on the occasion.
He also unveiled a special cover published by postal department on wildlife conservation. A tigress protected in the state with her four cubs has been displayed on this special cover.
De Sa also reviewed a wildlife photo exhibition by photographer Abrar Khan. About 100 photographs of wild animals and birds of Van Vihar and the city's landscape were displayed at the exhibition.
Earlier, the chief secretary sought information about forest department's schemes. He spoke to the principal secretary, forests, B P Singh and other departmental officers in this regard.
He also felicitated 12 officers and employees for outstanding performance in the field of wildlife conservation in three categories. Rs 50,000 was given as prize money to each of the awardees each since 2008 to motivate officers and employees towards wildlife conservation.
