Lee Young Ae cast for new historical drama 'Saimdang, the Herstory'

Lee Young Ae was cast for channel SBS' new historical drama, 'Saimdang, the Herstory.'

On May 20th, a representative of drama production agency Group8 said, "SBS recently finalized the on-air schedule of new drama 'Saimdang, the Herstory.' The first shoot is going to take place in July, and actress Lee Young Ae was cast as the lead role."

Production director Yoon Sang Ho, who had directed dramas 'The Legend,' 'Mrs. Go,' 'Bichunmoo,' and 'Tamra, the Island' is going to participate in the drama as the head, and writer Park Eun Ryeong, who had written dramas 'Neighborhood Lady (tentatively translated title),' 'Second Propose,' and 'Mrs. Go' is writing the scripts. It is going to be the second time for director Yoon Sang Ho and writer Park Eun Ryeong to work together, and many drama fans are showing huge anticipation for their new collaboration already.

Lee Young Ae said, "I really enjoyed wathing 'Tamra, the Island,' and I am very glad to announce my comeback. I can't wait for my first shoot."

Drama 'Saimdang, the Herstory' is going to show the life of Shin Saimdang, who was a female artist, writer, calligraphist, and noted poet of Joseon dynasty. Lee Young Ae is going to play in the drama as a Korean traditional art scholar and Shin Saimdang.

Meanwhile, the first shoot for 'Shin Saimdang' will take place in July, and the drama will premiere in early 2016.
