Fresh produce importer now offering Florida grown blueberries

Crystal Valley Foods has announced that it will begin shipping conventional and organic Florida blueberries under the Crystal Valley label this season. The first shipments will begin at the end of March and they will be available through the end of May.

The company has an exclusive partnership with a grower/packer in Hawthorne, Fla. and they expect a good Florida season as weather in the region has been conducive to good volume and quality. About 20 percent of its Florida grown blueberry production will be organic fruit.

“We are excited to be able to offer our customers domestic blueberries this year and we are especially looking forward to kicking it off with fresh Florida blueberries,” said Katiana Valdes, Director of Marketing, Crystal Valley Foods. “Not only will it be a strong Florida season but we are also proud to be promoting Florida grown produce as it is our home state.”

With the acquisition of Team Produce last year, Crystal Valley has been able to enter into the berry category, supplying imported blueberries from September through April. The transition into Florida is the first step in offering their customers year-round blueberries.

Crystal Valley will offer 6-ounce conventional and organic Florida blueberries.
