Man Shot Dead In Long Beach Park

No suspects are in custody, and the early-morning murder is under investigation, police said.

LONG BEACH, CA — A man was shot and killed Friday morning at a park on East 7th Street in Long Beach, according to authorities.

Officers were called at about 5:30 a.m. to the 800 block of East 7th where the victim was found suffering from multiple gunshots to his upper torso, the Long Beach Police Department said.

Arriving Long Beach Fire Department paramedics provided medical aid, however the man was declared deceased at the scene, police said.

Investigators said the individual was in the park when an unknown suspect, or suspects, approached him and began firing before taking off, officials said, adding that no motive is known.

The victim's identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
