Over the past few years I have written several blogs about Rochester based dance artists making their national and international marks - representing the local dance field at prestigious festivals in Massachusetts, New York City and abroad.

I am pleased to share the latest good news about SUNY Brockport’s James Hansen who will present two pieces of his original choreography at the Wave Rising Series in October. The Wave Rising Dance Series is produced by the WHITE WAVE Young Soon Kim Dance Company in its theatre in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn, New York. For more about the Wave Rising Festival, go here.

Hansen was chosen to present work in the highly selective Wave Rising Series after past sold-out performances in White Wave’s DUMBO Dance Festival and in its CoolNY Series.

James Hansen is a dancer, choreographer and educator. He is associate professor and undergraduate program director in the Department of Dance for the State University of New York at Brockport as well as the artistic director of James Hansen Assemblage Dance.

Rochester audiences can preview the work Hansen will present when in residency at Wave Rising at the Geva Theatre Center during the 2014 Rochester Fringe Festival on September 20, 21 and 24. For more information about Merged II, go here.
