Sheriff: Man indicted in connection to Clermont County missing person case
A man has been indicted in connection to a missing person case from earlier this year.Zachary Scott, 30, was indicted Thursday on charges of involuntary manslaughter, gross abuse of a corpse, corrupting another with drugs and tampering with evidence. It happened on Jan. 23 when the Brown County Sheriff's Office started investigating a missing person. Roger "Shane" Bruce left his home in the 1100 block of Skiffsville Road and was not heard from by his family for two days. Clermont County detectives got involved and worked with Brown County detectives because a 911 call stated Bruce was last seen in Clermont County on Jan. 21 on Laurel Point Isabel Road in Washington Township.Scott had called 911 saying Bruce was unresponsive in a vehicle. He said he had overdosed, and he administered naloxone to Bruce. The call then disconnected. The 911 call center called Scott back, who told them Bruce fled the area in his car after regaining consciousness. Clermont County deputies searched the area and could not find a vehicle matching the description provided, nor could they find Scott or Bruce.Detectives interviewed Scott days later when they said he changed the version of events, causing him to be charged with obstructing official business and falsification. On Feb. 15, Scott pleaded guilty to falsification. He then asked to talk with detectives, and he told them where Bruce might be. Detectives searched the area but found it to be misleading, leading to more charges for Scott.Scott plead guilty to two counts of falsification and was sentenced to an additional 200 days in the Clermont County Jail, where he remains incarcerated.Detectives searched multiple areas throughout Washington Township based on what Scott told them and the tips they got. But all efforts were unsuccessful.On June 25, Texas EquuSearch's search and recovery team's Midwest division worked with family members and the Clermont County Sheriff's Office to search numerous areas throughout Washington Township but were unsuccessful.The investigation remains ongoing. Scott is scheduled to appear for his arraignment at the Clermont County Common Pleas Court in front of Judge Richard Ferenc on Friday. Anyone with information related to the disappearance of Bruce is asked to call the Brown County Sheriff's Office at 937-378-4435 or the Clermont County Sheriff's Office at 513-732-7510.
