53-year-old biker killed after hitting car in Las Vegas

A Las Vegas motorcycle rider died after colliding with a vehicle Tuesday afternoon, according to Metro Police.

The 53-year-old motorcyclist was traveling southbound in the middle lane of Pecos Road south of E. Tropicana Avenue about 3:40 p.m., when a sedan to his right changed lanes to the left and started to make a U-turn, according to reports. The biker attempted to avoid the sedan, switching to the left lane and applying his brakes, but crashed into the car when it entered his path of travel. He was ejected and struck the left rear portion of the sedan.

The rider was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died from injuries sustained in the collision, police stated.

The 72-year-old driver of the sedan was uninjured and remained at the scene. The collision is still under active investigation, according to Metro Police.
