Movie premiere, festival, drag brunch on tap in Springfield this weekend

From a red carpet premiere to a brunch that includes bottomless mimosas, there's plenty to do this weekend in Springfield.

Check out these five events:

Red carpet premiere

Dress up and watch the thrilling red carpet premiere of "Holes in the Sky: The Sean Miller Story."

The movie debuts at 8 p.m., Friday at the Hoogland Center for the Arts, 420 S. Sixth St. Doors open at 7:15 p.m.

"Holes in the Sky: The Sean Miller Story" explores the journey of a documentary film crew detailing the 2013 four-day disappearance of Illinois resident, Sean Miller. A red carpet showcase with the actors will take place at 7:45 p.m.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Admission is free.

Walk to End Alzheimer's

Step with cause on Saturday at the Springfield Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Erin’s Pavilion in Southwind Park, 4965 S. Second St.

A ceremony recognizing people with Alzheimer’s, caretakers and those who lost someone from the disease will take place at 9:30 a.m. There also will be a live band, dance and cheerleader performances, therapy dogs, face painting, photo booth, and more.

The walk begins at 10 a.m.

Artisan and antique market

Find something special at the Brinkerhoff Arts & Crafts fair on Saturday.

The market hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and take place at the Brinkerhoff Mansion, 1500 N. Fifth St..

Over 150 vendors, food trucks and bakers will participate in the market. A children's area with a magician, balloon artist and face painting also will be available.

Celebrate fall

First United Methodist Church of Springfield will host a fall festival on Saturday, 4-7 p.m., at 2941 S. Koke Mill Road.

Festivities include pumpkin decorating, a bonfire, bounce houses, and a petting zoo. A showing of the 2017 Disney film "Coco" will begin at sunset.

Fall brunch

Take a sip and be entertained at the third annual It’s All About Wine’s Fall Drag Brunch on Sunday.

Brunch begins Sunday at 10:30 a.m. continuing until 1:30 p.m. at 1305 Wabash Ave.

Mahogany Knight and other local drag queens will perform. Admission includes bottomless mimosas and brunch.
