Members of the nonprofit Underground Miners organization of anthracite coal mine aficionados were in Scranton's Nay Aug Park on Saturday to continue work on the Brooks Mine, a model mine dating to 1902 but closed for nearly half a century. The group removed an old rail car from the 150-foot-long, curved mine dug horizontally into a small hill behind the Everhart Museum. Underground Miners is well on its way to renovating the former tourist/educational site toward getting it reopened in spring.
