Concert for all: Get ready for an evening of music with local musicians during Acoustic Shabbat Cafe at Alon's Bakery (4505 Ashford Dunwoody Road). The evening will celebrate people of all faiths and backgrounds through live acoustic music, cheerful songs and blessings. Anniversary celebration: As part of a month-long 47th anniversary celebration, TC Carson and L'Tanya "Sugarlips" Shields will headline Jazz on the Hill, an outdoor concert. Carson, an accomplished singer, is best known for portraying Kyle Barker on "Living Single" as well as doing voiceovers for Mace Windu on "Star Wars: The Clone Wars." Shields, as a member of Voice of Atlanta choir, previously recorded and accompanied Sir Elton John during his Peachtree Road World Tour. General admission is $15 and attendees should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets; reserved seating is $25 or $125 for a table of 8. Jazz concert: "Blowin' the Blues: All Blues Ain't Sad" will feature Joe Jennings, founder of the Neighborhood Arts Ensemble, a 20-piece instrumental ensemble. He will perform a variety of blues composed for jazz orchestra including works by Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Duke Pearson and others. 4 p.m. Sept. 30. Of note: The Rev. Austin Ford, founder of the Emmaus House, passed away at the age of 89 on Aug. 19. The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Cathedral of St. Philip (2744 Peachtree Road NW, Atlanta. 404-365-1000, stphilipscathedral.org).
