Chelsea will be in danger of breaching Uefa’s financial fair play rules if they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season after already being placed on “watchlist” by European football’s financial watchdog.

Uefa’s Club Financial Control Body announced in September that Chelsea were among 19 European clubs who only escaped action due to Covid-related allowances and whose spending will be closely monitored this season.
