French fries, French toast, now French bulldogs? Americans have solidified their love with all things French by making the French bulldog the nation’s new top dog.

Frenchies were given the title of America’s favorite dog in March by the American Kennel Club marking the end of the Labrador Retrievers 31-year rule over dog lovers, reports our sister site, NJ.com.

In 2022, after 10 years of steadily climbing in the rankings of America’s most popular dogs, Frenchies finally took the coveted top spot.

According to American Kennel Club registration statistics, ownership of the small and quiet dog increased by over 1,000% since 2012.

Pushing the Lab to the number 2 spot is no small feat. The Frenchie is considered to be a very versatile dog breed because they can fit into a variety of lifestyles.

This petite dog made its debut in 1898 to the American Kennel Club and since have become a beloved choice for families as well as singles since, their charming and adaptable nature make them a perfect fit for small living spaces.
