Over the past several days, there's been plenty of good news for former South Carolina Football stars who are still living out their dreams of playing in the NFL. Former Gamecock offensive lineman Dennis Daley is getting a chance at career redemption with the Arizona Cardinals, Stephon Gilmore was traded to one of the best defensive teams in the Dallas Cowboys, and Hayden Hurst finding himself in what will be a vital role with the Carolina Panthers.

As life typically goes, unfortunately, when a series of good things happen to an individual or particular group of people, that person or group is viewed to be due for negative occurrence. In the case of former South Carolina gridiron stars, the burden of such an event fell on the shoulders of kicker Ryan Succop, who the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released on Thursday evening.

Succop spent the past three seasons with the Buccaneers, making 84.8 percent of his field goals and 93.6 percent of his extra point attempts. He notably played a key role in Tampa Bay winning Super Bowl 55 in the 2020 season, as he converted on 93.1 percent of his field goal attempts from under 50 yards.

Regarding his college career, Succop was a dynamite kicker for the Gamecocks and currently still ranks third on the school's all-time scoring list.
