J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
Chargers' J.K. Dobbins: Slated to join Chargers
9m agoDobbins (Achilles) is in line to sign a one-contract with the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
A second-round pick of the Ravens in 2020, Dobbins had two of his first four pro seasons cut short due to an ACL tear in 2021 and then a torn left Achilles in Week 1 of the 2023 campaign. In his 24 career appearances, he's averaged a robust 5.8 yards on 234 carries, gathered in 27 of 35 targets for 177 yards and scored 13 total touchdowns. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache penned a letter to NFL teams in late March that Dobbins had received medical clearance to participate in football activities, but his new contract will be contingent on a physical. Once the move west to L.A. becomes official, Dobbins will join forces with former teammate Gus Edwards at the top of the RB depth chart, giving him some sway in fantasy working alongside QB Justin Herbert.

Darius Slayton NYG WR
Giants' Darius Slayton: Seeking new deal
3h agoSlayton (thumb) hasn't reported to the Giants' voluntary workouts while he seeks a contract extension, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Slayton, who led the team with 770 receiving yards in 17 games in 2023, has attended the Giants' voluntary offseason program in the past. The 27-year-old wideout is in line to earn $6.2 million in the final year of his contract in 2024, but Slayton is evidently looking to amend those terms. At this stage, Slayton -- who is recovering from an offseason procedure on his right thumb -- is poised to retain a key role in a Giants wideout corps that currently includes Wan'Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt.

Jaelan Phillips MIA LB
Dolphins' Jaelan Phillips: Getting fifth-year option picked up
8h agoGeneral manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that the Dolphins will exericse the fifth-year option on Phillips' (Achilles) rookie contract before May's deadline, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
A torn right Achilles' tendon limited Phillips to just eight games last season, but he's reportedly on track to be ready for Week 1 of the 2024 campaign. He's been one of the Dolphins' more impactful pass rushers over the past three seasons, and the team will be more in need of him than ever with Christian Wilkins having moved on to Las Vegas.
-
De'Von Achane MIA RB
Dolphins' De'Von Achane: Bulks up during offseason
8h agoAchane appears to have added muscle to his frame through his workouts earlier this offseason, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.
A photo of Achane showing up for OTAs went viral, with some saying he looks much larger than he did during his rookie campaign. It's his second offseason bulking up for football without also considering track and field, though at this point it's unclear how much muscle he's added relative to his weight from the 2023 NFL Combine, where he ran a 4.32-second 40-yard dash at 188 pounds. Achane averaged 7.8 yards per carry and scored a touchdown per game last season, albeit with injuries (six missed games) and Raheem Mostert's presence (209 carries) limiting the rookie to 103 carries and 27 catches in his 11 appearances. The Dolphins still have Mostert under contract -- along with backups Jeff Wilson, Salvon Ahmed (foot) and Chris Brooks -- but they'll presumably prepare Achane with more of the backfield work in his second NFL season.
-
Royce Freeman LAR RB
Cowboys' Royce Freeman: Picked up by Dallas
23h agoFreeman signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys on Tuesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Freeman spent his first three seasons with the Broncos before stops with the Panthers, Texans and Rams the last three years. The journeyman tallied 319 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in Los Angeles last year across 14 games. Dallas lost Tony Pollard to free agency, so its running back room currently consists of Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn (ankle), Malik Davis, Snoop Conner and Freeman. Freeman could get an opportunity to carve out a role for himself, but the Cowboys still seem likely to invest in the position during the 2024 Draft.
-
Trent Taylor CHI WR
49ers' Trent Taylor: Returns to Bay Area
1d agoTaylor signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Tuesday, Lindsey Pallares of the team's official site reports.
Taylor started his career in San Francisco before a two-year stay with the Bengals, and he spent the 2023 campaign with the Bears. The 29-year-old will have the opportunity to earn a role in the return game with the Niners after the departure of Ray-Ray McCloud in free agency this offseason.
-
Deshaun Watson CLE QB
Browns' Deshaun Watson: Throwing full speed
1d agoWatson (shoulder) said Tuesday he's already resumed "throwing full speed" but that he's uncertain how large a workload he'll handle during OTAs and minicamp, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Watson clarified that certain members of the Browns' medical staff are in favor of a more conservative approach to the quarterback's recovery from right shoulder surgery, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, which would have him wait until training camp to fully practice. Still, Watson is confident he'll be available for the Browns' season opener, and there appears to be no real worries about his Week 1 status. In case Watson misses part of the offseason, or struggles during the fall, Cleveland can lean on experienced backups Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley.
-
Daniel Jones NYG QB
Giants' Daniel Jones: Hopes to be fully cleared for camp
2d agoJones noted Monday that he hasn't had any setbacks in his recovery from Nov. 22 surgery to address a right ACL tear, Darryl Slater of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
The report adds that Jones says he's past the neck issue that he dealt with last season prior to hurting his knee, indicating that it was just a stinger. At this stage, the QB is throwing and intends to participate in spring practices in some fashion, with Jones adding that he's aiming be fully cleared for the start of training camp. When healthy, Jones is in line to reclaim his starting role for the Giants, who added fellow signal-caller Drew Lock in free agency and also have Tommy DeVito in the roster. Moreover, it's possible that the team adds depth at the position in the upcoming NFL Draft.
-
Deshaun Watson CLE QB
Browns' Deshaun Watson: Confident in Week 1 availability
12d agoWatson, who is bouncing back from shoulder surgery he underwent Nov. 21, noted Thursday he has no doubt that he'll be ready for the Browns' season opener, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Per Cabot, Watson resumed throwing as of March 19, with the quarterback acknowledging that his recovery process is "day to day" and that he plans to "to take it one step at a time." In the coming months, part of that process will involve load management, with Watson expressing confidence that he'll be ready and in top form in advance of Week 1. That said, Watson figures to be eased back into the mix once the Browns resume on-field activities, a scenario that should result in newcomers Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley seeing added signal-caller reps until Watson is deemed ready to practice without limitations.
-
Dorian Thompson-Robinson CLE QB
Browns' Dorian Thompson-Robinson: Still bouncing back from hip issue
15d agoGM Andrew Berry noted recently that the Browns could proceed cautiously this offseason with Thompson-Robinson, who is bouncing back from a season-ending hip injury, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
"We always want to be cautious and mindful of our guys coming back from injury concerns," Berry noted last Tuesday. Though the hip issue that landed Thompson-Robinson on IR last December didn't require surgery, the QB has still been undergoing rehab of late, and with the Browns having added Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley in free agency, the team can afford to proceed deliberately with both Thompson-Robinson and Deshaun Watson (shoulder). As a fifth-round rookie last season, Thompson-Robinson drew three starts, but he has a very narrow path to playing time in 2024.
-
Deshaun Watson CLE QB
Browns' Deshaun Watson: Making good progress in recovery
15d agoWatson (shoulder) recently said on his QB Unplugged podcast that he's "in a great spot" and has "plenty of time to ramp up the throwing sessions," per Nick Shook of NFL.com.
Watson is believed to have resumed throwing in mid-to-late March, after undergoing surgery Nov. 21 to repair a displaced glenoid fracture in his right shoulder. He'll presumably be absent/limited throughout OTAs and minicamp but may be ready for full participation when the Browns open training camp in late July. While a fully guaranteed contract ensures Watson will get another shot as the starter despite his disappointing performances in 2022 and 2023, the Browns prioritized QB depth this offseason by signing experienced backups in Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley. They also upgraded their receiver group, trading for Jerry Jeudy and then signing him to a three-year extension.
-
Taylor Heinicke ATL QB
Falcons' Taylor Heinicke: Accepts pay cut
15d agoHeinicke took a pay cut in March to stay with the Falcons, reducing his $5 million base salary to $1.21 million, ESPN.com's Michael Rothstein reports.
He also converted a $1.32 million roster bonus to a signing bonus and agreed to remove the $40,000 per-game roster bonuses from his contract. He's left with $2.53 million in real-money compensation for the second and final year of his deal, with a $4.53 million cap hit. Heinicke is in excellent position for the backup QB role behind Kirk Cousins, after Desmond Ridder was traded to Arizona for Rondale Moore in mid-March. The Falcons still have time to bring in competition, but it may not be a priority given that Heinicke's track record suggests he's qualified for the second spot on the depth chart. They'll at least need to bring in a camp arm or two, seeing as Cousins and Heinicke are the only QBs on the roster at the beginning of April.

Chargers' J.K. Dobbins: Slated to join Chargers

Emanuel Wilson GB RB
Packers' Emanuel Wilson: Sticks in Green Bay as ERFA
2d agoThe Packers re-signed Wilson on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
An undrafted rookie in 2023, Wilson made the Packers' initial 53-man roster following the preseason and even mixed into seven regular-season games, taking 14 carries for 85 yards and hauling in four of five targets for 23 yards while working behind Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. Green Bay swapped out Jones for Josh Jacobs and also retained Dillon this offseason, meaning Wilson is poised for a similar role in the coming campaign, barring further additions to the backfield in free agency or the draft.
-
Ronnie Rivers LAR RB
Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Inks contract tender
2d agoRivers signed his contract tender with the Rams on Monday.
Rivers suited up for nine games in 2023 as a backup to Kyren Williams, logging 32 carries for 129 yards and while securing all five of his targets for 22 yards. He and Zach Evans could have a chance to compete for the No. 2 backfield role this offseason, pending Los Angeles' additions in the 2024 NFL Draft and/or free agency. Rivers has looked solid in limited action as a pass catcher, which could open further paths for opportunities on offense if he's able to impress in the coming months.
-
Craig Reynolds DET RB
Lions' Craig Reynolds: Back to Detroit
2d agoThe Lions re-signed Reynolds as an exclusive rights free agent Monday.
Reynolds appeared in 16 regular-season games last year, rushing 41 times for 179 yards and one touchdown. He also secured all five of his targets for 47 yards. Now having re-upped with Detroit, he figures to reprise a depth role behind Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.
-
Darius Slayton NYG WR
Giants' Darius Slayton: Seeking new deal
3h agoSlayton (thumb) hasn't reported to the Giants' voluntary workouts while he seeks a contract extension, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Slayton, who led the team with 770 receiving yards in 17 games in 2023, has attended the Giants' voluntary offseason program in the past.
-
Trent Taylor CHI WR
Trent Taylor: Could return to Bay Area
1d agoTaylor has talked to the 49ers about a potential return to the team, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Taylor was selected by San Francisco in the fifth round of the 2017 Draft and spent three seasons there before stops in Cincinnati and Chicago. The 49ers do currently have a void in their return game, with Ray-Ray McCloud now in Atlanta, which is likely where the interest in Taylor lies.
-
Odell Beckham Jr. BAL WR
Odell Beckham: Nothing imminent with Miami
1d agoDolphins general manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that there's "nothing imminent" on a deal between Beckham and the team, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
Beckham was reportedly extended a contract offer by Miami after visiting with the team back in March, but it doesn't appear that a signing is around the corner. The 31-year-old is coming off a forgettable 14-game season with the Ravens in which he put up a 35-565-3 receiving line, but he could find more success as a No. 3 option behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. It could be that Beckham will need to wait until after the dust of the 2024 NFL Draft has settled to find a landing spot.
-
Jaylen Waddle MIA WR
Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Fifth-year option to be exercised
1d agoGeneral manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that he expects the Dolphins to pick up Waddle's fifth-year option, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
The Dolphins have consistently stated a desire to come to terms with Waddle on a long-term contract, and Grier specifically dismissed trade rumors earlier this offseason. The third-year pro has recorded three straight 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career, becoming the first wideout to do so in franchise history, and there's little question of his value as a No. 2 read behind Tyreek Hill. Picking up Waddle's fifth-year option will keep him under contract with the Dolphins for two more seasons.
-
Courtland Sutton DEN WR
Broncos' Courtland Sutton: Not at voluntary OTAs
1d agoSutton (ankle) wants a new contract and hasn't reported to voluntary OTAs, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Sutton has two seasons remaining on a four-year, $60 million extension, scheduled for a $13 million base salary in 2024 ($2 million guaranteed) and then $13.5 million in 2025 (no guarantees). He scored a career-high 10 touchdowns in 16 games last season, though 90 targets were his fewest since 2020 -- the year he suffered an ACL tear Week 1 -- and he still hasn't come close to matching his career-high 1,112 yards from 2019. The 28-year-old won't necessarily hold out from mandatory team activities later this spring, but the situation is at least worth keeping an eye on until he gets an extension or contract adjustment, or otherwise reports to the Broncos. There's been no indication of his Week 18 ankle injury lingering into the offseason, with the main concern at this point being the lack of a starting-caliber QB on Denver's roster. The team also appears thin at wide receiver, where the starting job across from Sutton could end up going to any of Josh Reynolds, Marvin Mims, Tim Patrick (Achilles) or Brandon Johnson.
-
C.J. Uzomah PHI TE
Eagles' C.J. Uzomah: Agrees to terms with Philadelphia
6d agoUzomah (knee) agreed to a one-year contract with the Eagles on Thursday, Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
After spending the first nine years of his career with the Bengals and Jets, Uzomah has found a new home in Philadelphia. The nine-year veteran appeared in the Jets' first 12 games in 2023 before sustaining a season-ending MCL injury. In those contests, Uzomah tallied eight receptions for 58 yards and one touchdown. Once 31-year-old has recovered from his MCL issue, he's expected to compete for the Eagles' top backup tight end role behind Dallas Goedert.
-
Brady Russell SEA TE
Seahawks' Brady Russell: Signs ERFA contract
9d agoRussell re-signed with the Seahawks on Monday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Russell was an exclusive rights free agent, so it's no surprise to see him back in Seattle for the 2024 campaign. He suited up for 15 regular-season games as an undrafted rookie last year, playing 308 snaps on special teams and 17 offensive snaps (zero targets).
-
MyCole Pruitt PIT TE
Steelers' MyCole Pruitt: Joining Pittsburgh
13d agoPruitt signed with Pittsburgh on Thursday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Pruitt has consistently worked as a backup tight end, primarily as a blocker. He'll take on a similar role with the Steelers and should pair well with Darnell Washington to aid the run game. Pruitt is reunited with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith after also playing under him in Tennessee and Atlanta.
-
Pat Freiermuth PIT TE
Steelers' Pat Freiermuth: Hoping to re-sign long term
13d agoFreiermuth said Wednesday on the Around the 412 Podcast that he wants to stay in Pittsburgh for the rest of his career, per Chris Ward of Steelers Now.
The tight end is in a contract year, following a down 2023 season in which a hamstring injury cost him five games and may have limited his playing time in a few others. He caught nine passes for 120 yards in a Week 12 win over the Bengals and had five catches for 76 yards in a playoff loss to Buffalo, but otherwise Freiermuth had just 23 receptions for 188 yards and two TDs in 11 appearances. He was far more active in the passing game as a rookie (60-497-7) and again in 2022 (63-732-2), and he could be Option B behind WR George Pickens in 2024 after the Steelers hired OC Arthur Smith and traded WR Diontae Johnson to the Panthers. While Smith figures to prioritize the running game, his affinity for multi-TE formations could put Freiermuth in a near-every-down role for the first time (he averaged 42.7 snaps per game in 2021, 46.4 in 2022 and 39.5 in 2023).
-
Brock Wright DET TE
Lions' Brock Wright: Retained by Detroit
14d agoThe Lions matched the three-year, $12 million offer sheet extended to Wright by the 49ers on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Wright signed an offer sheet that reportedly included $6 million guaranteed, but since he was a restricted free agent, Detroit had the ability to retain the tight end, who plays a key role as a blocker in the run game. The 49ers will now have to look elsewhere for an additional depth behind George Kittle, while Wright gets an improved contract and the opportunity to remain in a scheme in which he's already thrived. Across 14 regular-season appearances in 2023, Wright totaled 13 receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown.
-
Ben Mason LAC TE
Chargers' Ben Mason: Moves west
15d agoMason signed a contract with the Chargers on Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Mason has appeared in one game since being selected in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Ravens. He'll now get a chance in Los Angeles with Jim Harbaugh, his college coach at Michigan and the brother of his former coach in Baltimore.
-
Matthew Wright PIT K
Steelers' Matthew Wright: Back with Pittsburgh
7d agoThe Steelers signed Wright on Wednesday.
Wright, who has had previous stints with the Steelers since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2019, has also spent time with the Falcons, Panthers, Lions, Patriots and 49ers. Now that the well-traveled 28-year-old kicker is back with Pittsburgh, he'll provide the team with depth behind top option Chris Boswell.
-
Cameron Dicker LAC K
Chargers' Cameron Dicker: Stays in LA
15d agoDicker re-signed with the Chargers on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Dicker ultimately signed his exclusive rights tender from Los Angeles, which was originally placed on him March 8. The Texas product connected on 31 of his 33 FGAs last season, which was good for a 94 percent conversion rate, while not missing a single PAT. He may ultimately face competition in camp, but Dicker should have the inside track on the team's kicking job in 2024.
-
Greg Joseph MIN K
Packers' Greg Joseph: Lands in Green Bay
22d agoThe Packers signed Joseph to a contract Tuesday, his agent Brett Tessler reports.
Joseph gives Green Bay an experienced veteran option to compete with Anders Carlson, a 2023 sixth-round pick who converted 27 of 33 field-goal attempts (82 percent) and 34 of 39 extra-point attempts as a rookie. Joseph converted 24 of 30 field-goal tries (80 percent) and 36 of 38 extra-point attempts over 17 games with the Vikings last season.
-
Cade York CLE K
Browns' Cade York: Signs with Cleveland
25d agoThe Browns signed York on Saturday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
York spent last season on the practice squads of the Titans and Giants after the Browns cut him following training camp last summer. A 2022 fourth-round pick by Cleveland, York made just 24 of 32 field-goal attempts (75 percent) as a rookie before losing his job after one season. York joins Dustin Hopkins and Lucas Havrisik at kicker for Cleveland.
-
Joey Slye JAC K
Jaguars' Joey Slye: Signing with Jacksonville
30d agoSlye is signing a one-year contract with the Jaguars, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The Jags and Commanders now have swapped kickers, after Brandon McManus signed with Washington last week. The difference is that McManus figures to essentially be handed a starting job, whereas Slye is less proven and may have to compete with reserve/future signee Riley Patterson. Slye's career field-goal percentage (82.3) and PAT percentage (88.5) both are subpar by modern standards, though he does have a strong leg and has made 20 of 32 tries from 50-plus yards in his career.
-
Nick Folk TEN K
Titans' Nick Folk: Re-ups with Tennessee
03/13/2024Folk agreed Wednesday with the Titans on a one-year, $3.76 million contract, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Folk enjoyed an excellent campaign with Tennessee last season, converting 29 of 30 field-goal attempts and 28 of 30 extra-point tries. The veteran is entering his age-39 season but remains one of the NFL's most reliable placekickers, so bringing him back on a one-year deal is a sensible move for the Titans. Folk's contract reportedly maxes out at $4.13 million with incentives.

Shemar Jean-Charles NO CB
Saints' Shemar Jean-Charles: Back in Big Easy
2d agoJean-Charles re-signed with the Saints on Monday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports.
Jean-Charles was not tendered by New Orleans as a restricted free agent, but he will return to the team nonetheless. After spending his first two seasons in Green Bay, the 25-year-old suited up for eight games between the 49ers and Saints in 2023. He accumulated four tackles (three solo) in the process. The Appalachian State product will now look to make an impression during offseason workouts.
-
Nick McCloud NYG CB
Giants' Nick McCloud: Stays in the Big Apple
2d agoMcCloud (back) re-signed with the Giants on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
McCloud finished his 2023 campaign on the sidelines after getting injured in the team's season finale against the Eagles. Healthy now, the Notre Dame product can focus on being ready for a third campaign in New York after signing his free-agent tender.
-
Maxx Crosby LV DE
Raiders' Maxx Crosby: Fully healthy
2d agoCrosby (knee) said, "I'm feeling better than I ever have," Monday, after he spent much of 2023 fighting through a knee injury that required draining multiple times a week, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
Crosby set career highs in combined tackles (90) and sacks (14.5) last season despite spending much of the campaign hampered by a bursa joint issue. The 26-year-old underwent a procedure to correct it in January after the season ended and began rehabbing it soon after, which went "incredible," according to Crosby.
-
William Gholston TB DT
Buccaneers' William Gholston: Back with Tampa
2d agoGholston re-signed with the Buccaneers on Monday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
Gholston will remain in Tampa Bay in 2024 for what will be his 12th season in the league. The 32-year-old played a career-low 234 snaps on defense last season, recording zero sacks for the second consecutive year, although he did log his first career interception. He'll likely remain a depth option on the edge for the Buccaneers in 2024.
-
Angelo Blackson DEN DE
Broncos' Angelo Blackson: Finds new home
2d agoBlackson signed a one-year contract with the Broncos on Monday, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.
Blackson will join his sixth NFL squad for his 10th season in the league after playing 11 games for the Jaguars in 2023. The 32-year-old recovered three fumbles last season while recording 13 combined tackles. He'll likely be a depth option for Denver's defensive line.
