Christopher Robin getting R-rated TV show after Winnie-the-Pooh horror movie success
An R-rated comedic TV show based on AA Milne’s popular characters Christopher Robin and Winnie-the-Pooh, Christopher Robin, has been announced.
This announcement follows the box-office success of the Winnie-the-Pooh horror, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, which was released earlier this year in March.
Christopher Robin is a comedic live-action/animation hybrid about the tales of Winnie-the-Pooh with a darker take, Deadline reports, and is being developed by Boat Rocker and Shamier Anderson and Stephan James’ Bay Mills Studios.
The series will be based on an original script by Charlie Kesslering (Most Likely To). Kesslering will also executive produce the project. Meanwhile, Conrad Vernon (Shrek 2) is set to direct the pilot episode and also executive produce.
Christopher Robin’s official synopsis describes the show as: “Christopher Robin is a disillusioned New Yorker navigating his quarter-life crisis with the help of the weird talking animals who live beyond a drug-induced portal outside his derelict apartment complex, the Hundred Acres.”
Mind-bending stuff!
Meanwhile, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey already has a sequel in the works, with a teaser poster uploaded onto social media by the film’s creators. This is despite critics panning the film on its release. It even joined Rotten Tomatoes all-time 100 worst films.
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey saw Pooh and Piglet deviate from their lovable selves and become feral and murderous after being abandoned in the Hundred Acre Wood by Christopher Robin. It was written and directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield.
We are intrigued to see the results!
