Detroit Lakes — The sun has barely crested above the horizon on the first day of fishing in Minnesota and Brady Baxter, a fishing guide and owner of Baxstar Fishing, is unloading his boat onto Lake Sallie.

"Our schedule is really really full." said Baxter "The pontoon is rented out quite a bit already right now, and for fishing... I'm getting more calls every day now as the weather gets nicer." On a day anglers and guides take to the lakes looking for their next big fish story, Baxter isn't a guide... He's a friend.

"Brady is nice enough to set some time aside in his calendar most years." said Jason Hanson. "He goes fishing with his friends, which I really appreciate."

Brady and Jason have been friends since elementary school, meeting the first day before the first grade in 1989 and started fishing together shortly after.

"We saw some carp going underneath the culvert by his house one time." Brady recalls "And we I think we went got some poles... We didn't catch anything, but we got so excited about it. That's my first fishing memory with him."

Brady and Jason typically fish on the opener from sun up to sun down, and they intend to keep fishing together even longer…

"We're gonna make this a lifelong thing." Baxter said "It's just awesome, and it's it's worth taking that one day off…"
