A distraught dad who begged for information about his son after Wednesday’s California bar shooting has confirmed he died in the massacre.

Jason Coffman sobbed as he told a group of journalists Thursday that 22 year-old Cody was one of 12 victims killed when former Marine Ian David Long opened fire at Borderline Bar in Thousand Oaks.

He said: ‘I’ve been here fighting for him all morning long, and we did just get the news that he was one of the 11 killed last night.

Sorry, this video is no longer available.

‘He was Cody Coffman, my first-born son.’

The distraught father struggled to speak, saying ‘I love you son,’ and ‘Help me so much,’ as he paid tribute to his late child.

Coffman had earlier appeared on television to reveal how he had been trying unsuccessfully to call his son since hearing about news of the shooting.

He welled up on telling KTLA how a tracking app used by his son showed that the phone was still in the bar hours after the shooting took place.

Cody and three other victims of the shooting have so far been identified, with Sheriff’s deputy Sgt. Ron Helus named earlier today.

Helus, a married father-of-one, called his wife shortly before stepping inside the bar where he was killed.

The 54 year-old was a 29 year-law enforcement veteran who had been planning to retire.

Meanwhile, Borderline bouncer Justin Meek, 23, was also named as a victim of Wednesday night’s massacre.

The doorman, from Coronado in California, is said to have broken the bar’s windows during the shootout in a desperate bid to help people inside escape.

A spokesman for Meek’s former university Cal Luteran called his actions ‘heroic’, with students holding a vigil to honor the recent graduate’s memory.

Actress Tamera Mowery-Housley, who starred in 90s sitcom Sister Sister also confirmed that her niece Alaina Housley was one of those killed.

She and husband Adam Housley released a statement saying: ‘Our hearts are broken.

‘We just learned that our niece Alaina was one of the victims of last night’s shooting at Borderline bar in Thousand Oaks.

‘Alaina was an incredible young woman with so much life ahead of her and we are devastated that her life was cut short in this manner.’

Long drove his mother’s car to Borderline before opening fire with a legally-purchased .45 Glock.

He killed a total of 12 people, before turning the gun on himself.

Neighbors said the former Marine had been battling PTSD before his death, with sheriff’s deputies forced to call a mental health crisis team to help Long after an incident at his home earlier this year.
