While Kentucky is one of only 12 states without a statewide ban on smoking indoors, 45 cities have issued legislation to become smoke-free.

Lexington first became smoke-free in 2004 and two cities in Northern Kentucky have adopted similar legislation to ban smoking indoors in entertainment venues such as bars and restaurants.

Citing the dangers of secondhand smoke, and the toll lung cancer has had on the state, health officials are working to issue more bans in cities around Kentucky.
