Sheridan Smith may no longer be in a relationship, but that doesn’t mean she can’t have a laugh.

The English actress took to Instagram on Tuesday to thank her fans for their support as she comes to the end of her West End play, Shirley Valentine, and to make a light-hearted quip about her single life.

Smith kicked off the one-woman show at the Duke of York’s Theatre in London back in February, marking her return to the live stage after a four-year-long hiatus. The 41-year-old’s performance over the past few months has received widespread praise, with audiences and critics alike hailing her portrayal of the lovable British housewife.

"God I'll miss this show, the team and the audiences! Been my favourite job ever!," Smith gushed in her latest Instagram post, which includes a photo of her wearing a pink T-shirt and denim shorts whilst basking in the sun.

"Thank you to every one @dukeofyorksIdn and all involved and who came to support."

The Benidorm star also reflected on how her personal life is imitating art revealing that, like her on-stage character, she too is travelling to Greece soon as Shirley Valentine is set in Greece.

"So overwhelming. 6 more Shirley Valentine's then I'm genuinely off to Greece filming for 6 weeks," Smith told her 745k followers.

"You couldn't write it - let's hope I find my Costas. Not the coffee!," she quipped.

The clever line is a nod to Shirley’s extramarital romance with Costas, a local Greek man she meets shortly after arriving on the Mediterranean island.

Smith broke things off with Alex Lawlor after just four months together in 2022, following reports that the BAFTA-winner was still 'in love' with her ex-fiancé and son's father, Jamie Horn.

She was famously in a relationship the English insurance broker from 2018 to 2021, having first met him through a dating app. The pair share a son, Billy, together.

"Thank you to all of you who came and if you ever want chips and egg, I'm your girl x," The Royle Family star signed off the cheeky post.

Smith will be on location in Greece to star in The Castaways, a brand new drama series set to premiere on Paramount Plus. The five-part drama, which is based on the novel of the same name by Lucy Clarke, tells the story of two sisters Lori (Smith) and Erin (Céline Buckens) as they head to Fiji for a dream vacation.

Their exciting plans take a turn for the worst, however, when a massive argument leaves Erin refusing to board the plane. To make matters even graver, the aircraft - which is carrying Lori - never lands at its intended destination.
